Youngstown State University provides The News Outlet with a physical home. Other costs of operating the experiential learning project are paid by external grants and gifts that faculty directors generate on a yearly basis from outside sources. Below is a history of revenue generated:

From the 2010-2011 school year to the 2014-2015 school year, The News Outlet operated with professional staff members working 30 hours per week. At times, The project employed as many as 40 interns. Most interns are paid; some work for class credit.
