Today is National Voter Registration Day. All across the country people will be registering to vote in the upcoming elections. Chris Davidson reports.

The Mahoning County Board of Elections is expecting five to ten thousand new voters this election. That includes people who have moved here and those reaching voting age:

A lot of high schools who have registration drives and if they will be 18 by November 6th the they can vote in the November 6th election

Board of Elections Director Joyce Kale Pesta says a presidential race brings in more registrants:

Some people just vote for president that’s just the way it is

President of the League of Women’s Voters, Kathleen Dragoman says they’re working with many organizations to bring in new voters:

American Association of University Women, Mahoning Valley Organizational Committee, District Three Nurses Association, Knights of Columbus, Rebecca Zolden and Friends will be registering voters at Kilcawley at YSU.

You can register to vote at the East, Austintown and Newport Libraries, St. Luke’s Church in Boardman and several other locations.

Our focus is the voter and voting rights

You can also register to vote on line at the Board Of Elections website or you can register in person, but Kale Pesta says to make sure you register by October 9th:

We will be here until nine o’clock at on October ninth night once registration is closed you can’t vote
